It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and Summer Sales Festival committee member, Andy, who lost his short but brave battle with cancer today.
Andy’s life was one of service, dedication, and quiet kindness. He served in the Royal Signals from 1983 to 2000, spending an incredible 17 years continuously in Germany as a Data Op/Sys Op with 22 and 16 Sigs crypto cell, 28 Sigs, 7 Sigs, and Northwood. His commitment to his country and his comrades ran deep, and after stepping away from military life, he found his way back into the veteran community about seven years ago – and what an impact he made.
As an active member of the Royal British Legion Riders branch and Royal Signals Bikers, Andy threw himself wholeheartedly into supporting veterans and charitable causes. From Mercury Madness alongside Steve “Scouse” Hall to countless other bikers’ charity ventures, his passion for giving back knew no bounds. It was through Mercury Madness that Andy joined our Summer Sales Festival committee, where his expertise in development and logistics was already making a real difference.
Beyond his service and charity work, Andy was a man of simple pleasures – his beloved bikes (even the ones he’d taken apart and couldn’t quite put back together!), his cherished dogs Biff, Bash, Budge, Jake, and the others who brought him joy, a good glass of port, and his techno dance music. He organised reunions for the ‘Class of Krefeld’ with Kev Wyatt over the years, ensuring those bonds of friendship remained strong.
Andy kept a small circle of close friends – he was a private man – but those who knew him understood his true character: he would help anyone in need without judgement or question. That generosity of spirit touched so many lives.
We will miss you, Andy. Your dedication, your kindness, and your unwavering commitment to supporting others will never be forgotten. The Summer Sales Festival family sends our deepest condolences to Andy’s family, friends, and all who loved him.
Rest easy, friend. 🖤 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒂 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒐
